The evening concludes at 8:00 pm with prayers of consecration to the Sacred Heart and Benediction.

Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, #1213) Through Baptism, we are freed from sin and reborn as children of God. We thus become members of the Body of Christ, and are incorporated into the Church, sharing in her mission.

Baptism is the first Sacrament of Initiation into the Catholic Church. We baptize infants, children and adults in the name of the Holy Trinity, which calls each of us to a lifelong journey as disciples of Christ. By baptism Original sin and all personal sins are forgiven and we are free to share in God’s own life as his adopted children. We are welcomed into the Church, the Body of Christ.

If you’re expecting, please call Pat the parish office at 554-1010 to schedule your child’s Baptism as soon as possible.

Baptism is done by the pouring of Holy water over the person’s head while praying. The baptized are then anointed with Chrism, a holy oil, which symbolizes the gift of the Holy Spirit. The person is covered in a white garment to symbolize a new life in Christ, and given a lighted candle to show that we have been given the Light of faith. We are to keep the Light of Christ burning in our hearts and live as His Light in the world.
